Well, 2020 has been quite the year has it not. Our club has now been shut down twice! Oh well.

In the spring, Mr. Brown worked on putting together some four directional movements for students to work on at home for practise along with patterns while we were shut down. We are providing those below. Or you can download the word document by clicking on the title.

We are also including video instruction to assist your practise. These are the same movements that we did in class together.

4 Directional exercises (<- Click for Link Download)

All exercises will begin with right foot back, L stance, outer forearm guarding block. Perform exercises both right and left side.

Note: all exercises will start & end with the same foot back (right & left side)  ( “ / “ means to pivot 90 degrees )

Yellow Stripe:

  1. Snap kick / walking stance low outer forearm wedging block
  2. Walking stance low outer forearm block / L stance inner forearm block
  3. Side kick into an L stance forearm guarding block / knife hand guarding block

Yellow Belt:

  1. Walking stance high punch / L stance twin outer forearm block
  2. Walking stance low block – rising block with the same arm / walking stance high wedging block
  3. Turning kick – L stance knife hand side strike / walking stance high outer forearm side block

Green stripe:

  1. Front snap kick – double punch in walking stance / walking stance back fist strike
  2. Walking stance high outer forearm side block – high punch / L stance knife hand guarding block
  3. Reverse hook kick – L stance knife hand side strike / L stance outer forearm waist block 

 Green Belt:

  1. Walking stance high punch / L stance twin outer forearm block, inward knife hand strike, fixed stance middle punch
  2. Front snap kick into a walking stance reverse middle punch / walking stance circular block
  3. Inside crescent kick – side kick (SL) – L stance outer forearm guarding block /      L stance twin knife block

Blue stripe:

  1. Axe kick, front kick (SL) walking stance twin vertical punch / L stance inner forearm block
  2. Bending ready stance, side kick into a walking stance elbow strike / L stance knife hand guarding block
  3. Back leg hook kick, turning kick (SL) – walking stance high double forearm block/ high downward hooking block in a walking stance

Blue Belt:

  1. L stance middle reverse knife hand block, side front kick / low stance slow pressing block
  2. Walking stance high double forearm block, fixed stance middle punch / L stance middle knife hand X block
  3. Turning kick – jumping side kick – L stance knife hand guarding block / L stance low parallel knife hand block

Red Stripe:

  1. Inside crescent kick – side kick (SL), L stance back fist / walking stance downward X block, twin vertical punch
  2. Front leg snap kick stepping down into a walking stance obverse flat fingertip thrust – stepping forward into an L stance knife hand guarding block, front leg snap kick stepping down into a walking stance, obverse flat fingertip thrust / L stance twin outer forearm block – upward punch
  3. Move front foot into walking stance, circular block – back leg front kick, reverse middle punch / L stance low parallel knife hand block

Red Belt:

  1. Walking stance downward X pressing block / sliding into L stance twin elbow strike
  2. L stance twin outer forearm block, upward punch, sliding to fixed stance middle punch, vertical stance downward knife hand strike / L stance knife hand side strike
  3. Reverse hook – turning kick (SL) – L stance outer forearm block / Walking stance low knife hand block – L stance obverse middle punch (pulling front foot)

Black Stripe:

  1. Walking stance straight fingertip thrust / walking stance upset fingertip thrust, slide front foot back into L stance back fist strike with low outer forearm block
  2. Reverse hooking kick into L stance knife hand side strike / L stance twin outer forearm block
  3. Side kick – walking stance high inner forearm block / walking stance circular block
  4. Slow middle front kick with fast high front snap kick – (keeping same leg up) slow middle side kick – fast high side kick / Walking stance double forearm block, slide back to outer forearm reverse low block – inner forearm front block

1St Degree Black Belt:

  1. stepping forward middle turning kick, jumping side kick (SL) into a walking stance twin vertical punch, double arc hand block, low upset punch / walking stance low knife hand block
  2. Front leg outside checking kick, side kick (SL), moving forward with reverse hook kick, side kick (SL) stepping down into a walking stance, horizontal elbow strike into palm / Outer forearm guarding block
  3. Stepping forward with an inward crescent kick, jumping 360 degree inward crescent kick, jumping into an X stance downward back fist strike / walking stance low outer forearm block.
